October 14, 2003On Being Lost In Translation
"Lost In Translation" has excellent editing, excellent photography, excellent soundtrack, average acting and a very bad story. A better title could have been : "Yet Another Snobbish, Cheezy, Sophisticated Way Of Falling In Love".
I have the impression that Sofia Copola likes her movie characters to reflect her own personality (this also seems to applies to the "Virgin Suicide" girls). They are all so hot, so trendy, so yoga, so au courant, so pertinent, so avant-garde, so superior, so bored by the triviality of the average people... And, I only get that she never goes past the most epidermic superficiality.
Fuck Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, and Sofia "Marie-Antoinette" Copola!
I am so pissed off by coolness.
